The bioanalytical lab component of the Drug Bioequivalence Center was established with the recruitment of several members of its laboratory staff. Its current location is Badir for Biotechnology, the Saudi National Biobusiness Incubator. New analytical laboratory equipment is being installed and calibrated and the laboratory staff is currently being trained to utilize its equipment. One hundred and fifty drugs from different classes were documented and could be further validated using the specific equipment to be used in current drug bioequivalence studies. Most required standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the bioanalytical laboratory were written, along with the clinical and health protection/safety procedures.

Dr. Salman Al Fadhel is currently the team leader of Bioequivalence – Bioanalytical Unit and an active research scientist at KAIMRC. During his work, he started establishing state of art Bioanalytical Lab since 2012 together with his team according local and international regulations. This lab aims to provide a number of services, such as bioequivalence studies, stability and quality control tests for different types of commercial pharmaceutical products, therapeutic drug monitoring services and pharmaceutical project services. His longstanding goal as a scientist is to use his extensive background and expertise in pharmaceutical science to contribute in improving the health outcome and quality of research. He has published and participated in numerous international conferences. He completed his postdoctoral fellowship from University of Florida, USA, that focused on Bioequivalence, Bioavailability, Pharmacodynamics and Pharmacokinetics of inhaled drugs. He holds Doctoral degree in the field of drug delivery of inhaled drugs to respiratory system from University of Bradford, UK. He has professional memberships in various international societies, such as American Thoracic Society and European Respiratory Society. Moreover, he has taught Bioequivalence and Pharmacokinetic at KFMC and different other universities in Riyadh.
