KAIMRC-RPES EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES FROM OCTOBER 2015-MAY 2016

6th KAIMRC Annual Scientific Forum

– 6th KAIMRC Annual Scientific Forum with the theme “Research that makes a difference: on the bench, at the bedside, and in the community” aspires to reach more people focusing on the growth of research studies for the healthcare needs. This aims to gather active health care providers, to encourage collaborations and to gather more research outcomes.

Pre-forum workshop (08 December 2015) This will include several research related workshops :

  • Toward personalized and precision for Diabetes and Cancer
  • For patents, Innovations and Intellectual Property Registration at MNG-HA
  • How to Publish Rigor and Discipline in Research
  • Certification for Clinical Research Professional

Annual Forum (09-10 December 2015) This includes presentations from highly distinguished faculties who have come from well recognized local and international institutions.

4th Faculty Development Program

– In collaboration with American University of Beirut, this is an intensive program and a systematic approach to improve the research skills of the faculty for the purpose of promoting and advancing research. The program will be interactive and will utilize actual proposals of the faculty to assist in initiating and completing their research projects.

Target Date: January 2016 (tentative)

Modules: six (6) modules

Venue: KAIMRC Jeddah

Target Participant: Consultant and Assistant Professor

8th Clinical Research Coordinator Program

-In collaboration with Barnett Institute for Clinical Research, this aims to identify the needs for qualified clinical research coordinators to assist the research team in conducting clinical trials.

Date: 04 October 2015- May 2016

Semesters: Two (2) Semesters followed by a month of practical training at the King Abdulaziz Medical City, Riyadh

Venue: KAIMRC Riyadh

Selected Participant: Twenty-six (26) students

Research Summer School

-An intensive course given every summer which offers special introductory courses on Medical Research which aims to inculcate the medico-bioethical research values, principles, and methodologies to each and every medical student. In this course, student participants are trained on the proper and effective ways of conducting Medical Research.

Date: Summer of 2016

Venue: KAIMRC Riyadh and Jeddah

Target Participant: Health Care Students (i.e.: Medicine, Nursing, Applied Medical Sciences, Dentistry and Pharmacy)

Fee: SR 2,000

International Conference on Harmonization’s Good Clinical Practice (ICH-GCP) Standards for Conducting Research Course

– A program which was given quarterly in order to help current and potential researchers meet the good clinical practice standards for conducting research through giving an outline of the basic principles. It is a full day short to be followed by an examination. Only those researchers who passed will be considered qualified as an Investigator who may submit proposal for grant funding at KAIMRC in the clinical domain only.

Research Seminar Series

– Conducted on a monthly basis, invited speakers are with research grants preferably distinguished external experts in the field of research from KAIMRC or KACST and medical health care providers are invited.

KAIMRC Scientific Club

– One-hour lecture which aims to foster scientific interaction among the researchers from KAIMRC, KSAU-HS and NGHA resulting in a vibrant collaborative research environment. This interaction includes but not limited to discussion of updates in the scientific field such as new publications, technologies, seminars, conferences, methodologies, and instrumentations.

Introduction to Clinical Research

– This course provides the basic concepts of clinical research including developing the research question, data collection, quality control in research, ethical concerns or research and data management and analysis.

Statistics Made Easy

– This workshop provides hands on experience on managing a statistical database. It also provides the opportunity for the candidates to develop the basic skills to conduct simple statistical analyses.
