● KAIMRC to team up with the US National Institutes of Health

As part of its strategy to select targeted international R&D partnerships, a senior delegation from King Abdullah Medical Research Center (KAIMRC) comprised of Dr. Ahmed Alaskar, Executive Director of KAIMRC and Dr. Abdelali Haoudi, Head of Strategy and Business Development, has visited the US National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland last week to discuss R&D opportunities of mutual interest for possible partnership.

The visit included site visits and discussions with senior representatives at the NIH including Dr. Lawrence Tabak, Deputy Director of the NIH; Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases as well as key representatives from the National Cancer Institute (NCI); The Clinical Center and the Center for Scientific Review.

This successful visit has culminated with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between KAIMRC and the NIH to tackle specific R&D areas as well as research training and exchange of expertise.

The NIH is the premier biomedical research institution in the US, comprised of 27 centers and institutes covering a range of medical and health research areas with an annual budget exceeding $US 33 billion.
