Last week has witnessed yet another move from KAIMRC to explore and target Strategic R&D partnerships with elite research institutions worldwide including the prestigious Harvard Stem Cell Institute (HSCI) and Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH) in the US. Both institutions are world leading institutions in biomedical research and Healthcare with HSCI being a top stem cells research institute comprising over 1000 scientists and BCH is the number One Children’s Hospital in the US.
The visit was organized by Harvard Stem Cell Institute and Boston Children’s Hospital leadership to host a senior delegation from KAIMRC including Dr. Ahmed Alaskar, Executive Director of KAIMRC and Dr. Abdelali Haoudi, Head strategy and business development.
The meetings and site visits included Dr. David Williams, Chief, Division of Hematology/Oncology and Director of Translational Research; Dr. Christopher Walsh, Chief Division of Genetics and Genomics; Dr. Leonard Zon, Director Stem Cell Program; Dr. Douglas Melton, Scientific Director, Harvard Stem Cell Institute; Mr. Brock Reeves, Executive Director, Harvard Stem Cell Institute; Dr. Robert Millman, Chief Executive Officer, Semma Therapeutics and a number of other senior investigators from HSCI and BCH. The meetings have led to a number of potential collaborative opportunities in the areas of genetics, genomics, stem cells, diabetes and clinical research as well as biotechnology development.
Among KAIMRC strategic goals is the set up of strategic partnerships to enhance and facilitate the set up of world leading research programs in KSA and to contribute to knowledge based economy.
