On December 13, 2016, the 7th Annual Forum for Medical Research will launch its activities starting with an expert panel presentations and discussion about one of the most pressing infectious diseases challenges for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome, Coronavirus (MERS CoV). Local and international experts will present and discuss the latest developments in R&D and advances in vaccine development for MERS CoV.
The official opening ceremony will be in the presence of H.R.H Prince Mutib bin Abdullah Al Saud, Minister of the National Guard; H.E Dr. Bandar Al Knawy, Chief Executive Officer Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs (MNG-HA) and President King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences (KSAU-HS) and Dr. Ahmed Alaskar, Executive Director, King Abdullah International Medical Research Center (KAIMRC).
Among a number of senior officials and dignitaries present at the forum will be H.H Prince Dr. Turki bin Mohammed bin Saud Al Saud, President of King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST). It is also important to note that KACST is the exclusive institutional partner at the 7th Annual Forum for Medical Research.
A number of research award winners and new patent holders will be recognized during the opening ceremony.
The day will end with a very important session dedicated to measuring the impact of research both on health, education and on economy. Among the key participants at this session are H.H Prince Dr. Turki bin Mohammed bin Saud Al Saud, President of KACST; H.E Dr. Bandar Al Knawy, Chief Executive Officer, MNG-HA and President of KSAU-HS; Dr. Ahmed Alaskar, Executive Director, KAIMRC; and Dr. Klaus Lindpainter, Vice President and Global Head, Worldwide Research and Development, Pfizer Inc.
